“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.” ― Albert Einstein
April 26 was my blog’s first birthday. Blogging has been a great experience, yet I was starting to encounter a problem.
I had been blogging on WordPress.com for a year, and I was getting bored with it. Writing will always have a special place in my heart, but I became too familiar with the WordPress.com platform. Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s a great platform and I am not claiming to be an expert with it, but it just wasn’t giving me the opportunities to grow and learn like it used to. This reflection was followed by a lot of internal thought and debate. Then, I came to a realization, a driving force that pushed me over the edge to change my life: If I genuinely encourage stepping outside of your comfort zone, I must step outside of mine in order to grow as a person.
Lessons on moving forward
Stepping outside of your comfort zone is tough, but it’s what we have to do in order chase our dreams and achieve our goals. If I was going to achieve this goal, I had to have a vision. I had to know exactly what I wanted and push through the challenges in order to make it come true. The process of starting this page was tough, but my passion for blogging and writing kept me going, even when it was frustrating.
Persistence pays off, even if it does not seem like it when we are working on our goals. If I can achieve my goal of creating this page without being a Bluehost fanatic or a coding expert, you can achieve your goals too.
I left the comfort of WordPress.com behind when I switched to a self-hosting platform. I became a beginner again, just like when I began my blog in April of last year. Despite the uncertainties that come with doing something new; I feel free. Starting is the hardest part, but after that, you figure it out along the way. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the next step.
Advice on taking action
If you want to move forward, figure out why. Let your reasons brew inside your mind until you can see them clearly. When you face challenges, it can be tempting to give up. Excuses and challenges are inevitable, but if your reasons for your vision are strong, you can overcome the hardships. Remember that you don’t have to know the whole journey, just take a step. Then another, then another. Soon enough, the goal will be in sight.
Now my page reflects my vision; the limitations of WordPress.com will no longer limit my ideas. Don’t limit yourself, you are stronger and smarter than you realize. This page is a resource to success, and I hope it serves you well.
I’m right alongside you, as I begin this new chapter with my blog. As always, feel free to reach out. Together, we will achieve success, one step at a time.
