I was recently frustrated while trying to adopt a new routine. Every day, something got me off track and postponed my progress. Many of us face similar problems when pursuing a new goal or adopting a new habit.
None of us are perfect, yet our imperfections can cause discontent. We’ve all heard the Japanese Proverb, “Fall down seven times, get up eight.” How do we get up after falling again and again?
Look no further to the days of yesteryear; the days when you were a baby. Babies are always falling as they learn to walk. After each fall, they begin again. Over time, they fall less and become comfortable walking on their own.
Every time we fall, we can begin again.
It doesn’t matter if it’s a relationship, job, or money decision.
It doesn’t matter if you’ve been trying for 10 years or 10 minutes.
We don’t need to wait for a new year or a new occasion to embrace a new beginning. Take the lessons of the past and apply them to the present moment.
After several attempts, my new routine began to stick. The next time I miss a day, all I have to do is begin again.
