Two Words to Become More Grateful

How do we cultivate a grateful life?

There is nowhere to go to find gratitude, as it does not reside in any destination. Nor do we need to purchase anything, as gratitude is not something we purchase or consume.  Gratitude is always within us, waiting for us to uncover it at every opportunity.

Every second presents a chance to be grateful if we’re mindful enough to find beauty in the present moment.

As of writing, it’s raining outside. This could be an opportunity to be frustrated or upset. I can blame the rain for preventing me from walking outside or from seeing the sunshine. Or I can be thankful for the sound of rainfall and that it’s watering the trees, plants, and grass outdoors.

Not only is it raining, but I also feel lethargic. Instead of feeling an abundance of energy and enthusiasm, I’d rather take a nap or glue myself to the couch. This is a perfect opportunity to be frustrated and berate myself, right? Or I can use this as an opportunity to thank my body for reminding me to rest, reflect, and recharge.

If someone is kind, I can thank them for their generosity. If someone is challenging, I can thank them for teaching me patience.

Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Let these two words seep into your daily life and find ways to thank the world around you. Gratitude is within you, and it’ll thank you for uncovering it at every chance you get.
