“In every day, there are 1,440 minutes. That means we have 1,440 daily opportunities to make a positive impact ― Les Brown”
There are over seven billion people on this earth. Recognizing the number of people on this planet is a humbling experience. It reminds us where we stand in this galaxy. It’s an experience that’s so humbling that we might think we don’t even matter. People are always searching for new creative ways to stand out, to get acknowledged and recognized. When we are stuck in our normal routine, we might feel like we are just another person; a bystander in what happens and that we don’t stand out. I’d like to remind you of the impact you have on the world and the people around you, whether you realize it or not.
Whenever someone makes you mad, sad, excited, happy, surprised, worried, or energized, they are having an impact on you. All of your friends, family, and loved ones have an impact on you to some extent. Even if it’s a person you rarely see they still have an impact on you and have helped shape you into the person you have become. Some people have a positive impact on us and some have a negative impact. You have an impact on others just like others have an impact on you. People change as they get older and the people around them help them change.
Use your impact on others to promote the change you want to see in the world. Imagine a perfect world and figure out what behaviors and actions people would be doing if the world was perfect. Then act out the behaviors and actions you want to see and it will impact others. If you think your behaviors and actions don’t impact others think about the countless chains of kindness that have been reported all over the world. For example, many reports have been made of people paying for the coffee for the person behind them and the acts of kindness continue to multiply. If you want to see more kindness in the world practice kindness with the people you interact with. Even if you are interacting with a stranger you will probably never see again, be kind. We are all human and being kind can cause a positive ripple effect that goes beyond what we can imagine. Another word for human beings is humankind. This implies kindness isn’t just a nice idea, it’s something we are meant to do.
Understanding that you have an impact on others can help your self-esteem and boost the confidence you need to help others and change the world. When you acknowledge your impact, you become empowered because you realize that you can make a difference. We don’t have to wait for someone else to help save the world or make it a better place because we can all do our best to change it ourselves. We can impact our loved ones, family, friends, and even strangers to live happier and healthier.
