Everyone has their own relationship with time.
Some people reminisce on their past, while others plan far into the future.
Some people focus on time management to maximize their hours, while others are simply looking for activities to fill it.
I used to always maximize every moment. It turned into a productivity contest, where I always tried to squeeze in another to-do. Instead of seeking value from pursuing meaningful relationships and hobbies, I looked to my checklist for pleasure and contentment.
Regardless of where we sit on the spectrum, one truth applies to us all: time catches up with us.
Time returns to compound the choices we once made.
When we take care of ourselves and make space for what matters most, we’ll live a life full of meaning and contentment.
When we fill our days with chaos and disorder, we become more stressed, anxious, and overwhelmed.
Now, I take the time to do what matters. There will always be another to-do waiting to be finished, and that’s okay. We can’t complete our to-do list for all of time, but we can take the time today to do what matters most.
Be present with loved ones.
Clear your mind and have a moment of peace.
Bring a smile to your day and be grateful for what’s going well.
None of these things are rocket science, and yet these simple reminders can bring us back to basics and help us uncover the tranquility within us.
Life doesn’t have to be complex to be better, the simple moments can often be the best ones. When we spend our time living a simple life, we get more of what we want and less of what we don’t.
No matter what we do, time will pass anyway. Take the time while it’s still here to do what serves you best.
